Liverpool great names two players Jurgen Klopp should sign in summer transfer window

Liverpool aren't expected to be too active in the summer transfer window with Jurgen Klopp happy with his Champions League winning squad as they prepare for the new season.

Young Dutch defender Sepp van den Berg has joined the club just £1.3million in Klopp's only signing so far.

However one-time Reds star Steve Nicol believes they could do with adding some extra quality to the squad - and he would be keen on moves for Matthijs de Ligt and James Maddison.

"Yes they could do with signing some players," Nicol said on ESPN.

"If you have a wish list, then my wish list would be another centre-back. Somebody like De Ligt I think would be incredible.

"I also would like somebody in the middle of the park who can do a little bit more than getting the ball back.

"Somebody like a James Maddison who has the ability to pick a pass and to score a goal."

De Ligt looks set to sign for Juventus after a summer of speculation with Manchester United and Barcelona also linked.

Maddison, meanwhile, enjoyed an impressive first season in the Premier League with Leicester City.

The Foxes would demand at least £60m for the player they signed from Norwich City last summer.
