Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius responds to latest troubles in trademark fashion

It's probably fair to say Loris Karius isn't having the best of times in Turkey of late.

The Liverpool goalkeeper is in the first season of a two-year loan spell at Besiktas having been shipped out by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp following his Champions League final nightmare last May.

Karius has been a virtual ever-present for the Turkish this side this season, although relations between club and player have soured significantly in recent weeks.

Virgil van Dijk on what Liverpool deserve, unhappy Jurgen Klopp's team meetings and Man City title warning

It emerged earlier this month that Karius has asked FIFA to take action with Besiktas owing him four months' wages, having filed a complaint with the governing body in February. Liverpool have offered support to the player.

And Besiktas boss Senol Gunes claimed he would not be selecting the 25-year-old if Besiktas goalkeeping rival Tolga Zengin had been available.

Karius took to social media last week to respond to his critics with a message showing an emoji signalling his doubters to hush after keeping a clean sheet against Goztepe.

Now, though, he has gone a step further by posing on the cover of the latest edition of the Turkish version of Esquire magazine.

It was typically Karius.

Having agreed a £2.25million loan fee with Liverpool, Besiktas are obligated to buy Karius for a further £7.25m in 2020 if certain performance criteria are met, related to appearances and European qualification.
