Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson opens up on tragedy fuelling personal title charge

Alisson is determined to live the dreams of the Flamengo youth players who were killed earlier this year.

As many as 10 teenagers died after a fire engulfed a dormitory at the youth team training ground.

It was later discovered the Vulture's Nets facility did not have the necessary fire safety certificate or any means of escape in such circumstances.

Alisson came through the ranks at fellow Brazilian club Internacional and took the same steps as the youngsters, whose dreams perished in the blaze.

"It affected me just because it was a tragedy, of course. But it affected me even more because I lived what those boys lived. Those boys had their lives in front of them. They had the same dreams as me," he told the Mail.

Alisson was part of the Liverpool side that beat Flamengo earlier this month to become Club World Cup champions.

It was the third major trophy of 2019 for the club after winning the Champions League and Super Cup.

2020 looks set to be even more special with Liverpool now seeming destined to end their long wait for the Premier League.

On their success, he adds: "I think we all have the same goal, that's the main thing. We have no vanity in the changing room. We enjoy being together. We enjoy the moments we are playing together.

"We like to enjoy the game. We like to run together, to put our intensity. We know how strong we are together so this is the most important thing for the team."

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool return to Premier League action on Sunday when they welcome an in-form Wolves wide to Anfield.
