Liverpool have confirmed goalkeeper Adrian has signed a contract extension with the club.
The former West Ham goalkeeper looked set to depart on a free transfer as his current deal approached it's end but the Spaniard will remain at Anfield after penning a contract extension.
Adrian joined Liverpool on a free transfer in August 2019 and has made 24 appearances in all competitions during his time on Merseyside due to various injuries to first-choice stopper Alisson Becker.
The goalkeeper expressed his delight at signing a new deal and continuing his time at the club.
"I’m delighted, I’m very happy to stay in the club," he told the club's official website.
"Firstly, because it’s a reward from the club for the hard work that I’ve been doing since I signed two years ago. I really appreciate that confidence from the club, from the manager and from everyone involved in that situation.
"And secondly, and above all of that, it’s a pleasure to stay in Liverpool – it’s such a big club. But being as well a family club, it’s very special for any player to stay here. I am privileged."
The ECHO understands Liverpool currently have no plans to loan out young goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who replaced Adrian as Alisson's back up last season.
19-year-old goalkeeper Liam Hughes also signed a new contract this week after being named on the first-team bench last season.
