Liverpool give Mohamed Salah contract and Roberto Firmino injury updates

Jurgen Klopp is adamant there are no question marks over Mohamed Salah's Liverpool commitment despite ongoing speculation over his future.

But the Reds boss is likely to be without Roberto Firmino for a least another week with the forward yet to resume training after a hamstring problem.

Liverpool are locked in talks with Salah and his representatives over a new contract with his present deal due to expire in less than two years.

The Egyptian has started the season in impressive fashion with four goals in five games including a 100th career Premier League strike last weekend at Leeds United.

And when asked if there was any update on Salah's contract talks, the Reds boss said on Friday: "There is nothing really to say about it, especially not from me as I am not involved.

"Obviously the only thing I am really interested in is how Mo looks, how sharp he is, how committed he is at the moment and that's absolutely spot on. Really good.

"That's everything. There is nothing new to say about (the contract)."

Firmino has been missing since injuring his hamstring during the 1-1 home draw with Chelsea on August 28.

And the Brazilian will sit out both Saturday's Premier League visit of Crystal Palace and Tuesday's League Cup clash at Norwich City, and faces a race against time to be available for next weekend's trip to Brentford.

"He is not ready," said Klopp. "Bobby won't even start training with the team until some point next week.

"Then he will be back in training and we will have to see."
