Liverpool get huge fitness boost for crucial final day showdown with Crystal Palace

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has a chance to be involved in the Reds' crucial clash with Crystal Palace on the final day of the Premier League season.

Following a run of seven wins in their last nine league matches, Jurgen Klopp's side stand on the verge of salvaging Champions League qualification from a season which has been beset by injuries and disappointing form.

They enter the final day of the campaign level with Leicester City on 66 points, but have a much healthier goal difference than the Foxes.

Wednesday night's 3-0 victory at Burnley puts Liverpool four goals in front of Leicester, who host Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

That means that, in order to leap above the Reds, Brendan Rodgers' side would need to win by a margin four goals greater than Liverpool were both sides to taste victory.

Chelsea are also involved in the equation, but know that they will be in the Champions League next season if they beat Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Henderson hasn't played for Liverpool since going off in the first half of the Merseyside derby defeat to Everton at Anfield in February.

The Reds skipper underwent groin surgery after the blow, and there have been suggestions that he could miss linking up with England for Euro 2020.

However he returned to Liverpool training on Friday, and after taking part in a second session on Saturday he will have completed the mandatory two sessions that Klopp wants his players to take part in before considering them for selection.

It is unlikely that Henderson will start for the Reds, with Klopp set to stick with the same midfield which impressed at Burnley in Fabinho, Thiago and Gini Wijnaldum, with the latter probably making his final Liverpool appearance.

But having Henderson on the bench will be a huge boost to the squad the and manager, who are are seeking to see off a disjointed season with a valuable win.
