Liverpool get huge Champions League final injury boost

Andy Robertson is still being assessed by Liverpool ahead of the weekend that will decide the destination of the Premier League title.

But the Scottish left-back is not considered to be a doubt for the Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur on June 1, according to the Liverpool Echo .

Robertson went off at half-time of the epic semi-final victory over Barcelona following a kick from Luis Suarez, with his replacement Gini Wijnaldum coming off the bench to score twice in the 4-0 win as James Milner filled in at left-back.

The Yorkshireman could be asked to play there again against Wolves on Sunday, but Robertson will return for the Madrid showpiece against Spurs.

How Liverpool and Tottenham wins affect England's Champions League places next season

Robertson was asked about Suarez's kick on him after the match, and told BT Sport: "Who’s going to the final? We are. That’s all that matters. Gini went on [for me] and scored two. I don’t care right now."

He later elaborated on his injury, saying: “They’re confident that it’s just a nerve or whatever and it can be maybe a couple of days, but we’ll wait and see.

"We can’t really comment until I get the scan, but I’ll be saying my prayers tonight."

Liverpool are hoping that Manchester City can fail to beat Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Sunday, meaning that any victory for them over Wolves will give them the title.
