Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson facing late fitness test ahead of Champions League opener against Napoli

Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson will have a late fitness test to assess whether he will be available to play in Tuesday night’s Champions League opener against Napoli.

The Scotland international missed training as a precaution on Monday after picking up what the club say is a ‘slight knock’.

The 25-year-old has travelled with the squad to Naples, with James Milner likely to be asked to deputise if he is unable to feature.

“Robbo didn’t train today and we have to see,” Jurgen Klopp told the club website. “It is not a major thing, it was more precautionary today, but it is not 100 per cent sure [he will be available].

“We will have to test it tomorrow and then we will see.”

The Reds are also without Belgian striker Divock Origi as they begin the defence of their European crown, after he picked up an ankle injury in Saturday’s 3-0 Premier League win over Newcastle at Anfield.
