Liverpool forward sends sarcastic message to Chelsea after 'slip' tweet backfires

You couldn't move for references to Liverpool's 2014 defeat to Chelsea in the build-up to the two sides meeting at Anfield on Sunday.

Just as it was five years ago, Liverpool were going for the title and trying to stay on top of the league.

Just as it was five years ago, title rivals Manchester City were at Crystal Palace on the same day.

And just as it was five years ago, the match finished 2-0.

Only this time it was Liverpool who were the victors.

Second half goals from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah - the latter an absolute stunner from distance - ensured that Liverpool went back to the top of the table with four of their games to go.

And it meant that all references to that 2014 game, and Steven Gerrard's infamous slip, could be forgotten about.

Well, almost all.

Because after Chelsea's official Twitter account decided to remind the world of Gerrard's slip and Demba Ba's goal in the day before the game, as you can imagine their comments section was getting pretty full after the result.

And one man who was taking no mercy was Liverpool youngster Bobby Duncan, who just so happens to be Gerrard's cousin.

The young forward - who has been in stunning goalscoring form for the club's Under-18s side this season, scoring 22 times in 30 games - simply tweeted a sarcastic "Safe trip back to London" while quote tweeting Chelsea's video.

Ouch.

Unsurprisingly Duncan's tweet quickly went viral, and quickly brought in over 10,000 retweets and 45,000 likes as Reds fans gloried in the victory.
