Liverpool forward Harvey Elliott to fly out and join squad ahead of Club World Cup final

Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott is set to fly out to join the squad in Qatar ahead of the Club World Cup final.

Elliott, 16, was in action in the Carabao Cup away to Aston Villa last night.

The young Reds side who turned out at Villa Park gave a good account of themselves despite the 5-0 defeat and Elliott was one of the star performers.

Three players involved yesterday - Caoimhin Kelleher, Sepp van den Berg and Ki-Jana Hoever - travelled to Doha after the match.

But Elliott picked up a knock after being kicked during the game.

However, the Reds medical team have assessed him and there is no injury concern, so he is due to join up with his teammates tomorrow morning.

Liverpool beat Monterrey 2-1 tonight to book their place in Saturday's final against Flamengo.

The Club World Cup is a trophy the club have never won - and Jurgen Klopp's side will be desperate to put that right at the weekend.

The final kicks off at 5.30pm UK time on Saturday evening.
