Liverpool forward Diogo Jota awarded huge FIFA 21 upgrade in latest update

After an impressive start to his Liverpool career, winger Diogo Jota has been rewarded with an upgrade on FIFA 21 in the latest database update.

The Portugal international joined the Reds from Wolves in the summer and has since gone on to score nine goals in just 17 appearances in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp's side, with only 10 of those appearances being starts, which makes his record even more impressive.

However a knee injury has kept the 24-year-old out of action since the start of December, with his last appearance coming in the Champions League against FC Midtjylland on December 9.

Klopp recently confirmed that Jota is not close to an immediate return from injury, with his return still a few weeks away.

"It will still take time," the German boss said of Jota's issue.

"And he is a few weeks away from team training. There is nothing really to say, it takes time. There was no surgery needed, which was good, but it was a proper injury.

"It is not a little knock or something; no, no, and it will still take time. There is no real timeframe there."

However despite his injury, EA SPORTS have still dished out an upgrade for the Reds forward, with his overall rating and a number of attributes being boosted as a reward for his strong form this season.

In the latest FIFA 21 player database update, rolled out on January 6, 2021 for players on Xbox, PlayStation and PC, Jota's overall rating has been increased from 80 to 81, with his potential also increasing from 86 to 87.

Jota is now the same overall rating as Naby Keita, but now has the potential to better than Roberto Firmino (86) according to FIFA 21.

In terms of individual attributes, Jota's crossing (68-69), finishing (80-82), heading accuracy (60-65), short passing (72-73), volleys (76-77), long passing (68-69), reactions (82-83), shot power (82-83), stamina (79-80) and standing tackle (54-55) have all been increased.

But if the winger can replicate his early season form on his return from injury, expect more FIFA 21 upgrades to come his way.

What do you make of Jota's upgrade on FIFA 21?

*FIFA 21 is out now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The next generation version of FIFA 21 is also available now on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5.

Fans who jump into FIFA 21 can also benefit from Dual Entitlement, enabling them to upgrade their copy of the game from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S at no extra cost.
