Liverpool's travelling army could be back on the move for the first time in more than a year with the Premier League planning for the return of away fans next month.
Reds supporters have not been able attend a competitive game away from Anfield since the FA Cup defeat at Chelsea on March 3 2020, while the last top flight game was at Watford three days earlier.
However, that may change during the final week of the current campaign with proposals for away fans to attend the final two rounds of Premier League fixtures.
The gradual lifting of Government coronavirus restrictions means up to 10.,000 supporters will be allowed into stadiums from Monday, May 17.
As a consequence, the Premier League has moved the penultimate round of games, originally scheduled for the previous weekend, to May 18 and 19, therefore allowing all 20 clubs to hold one home game in front of supporters before the end of the season.
Now Premier League chief executive Richard Masters has emailed clubs informing them of the Government permitting up to 5% of the allowed capacity to be made up of away fans, and whether they would be in favour of the proposal, which would require local authority approval.
Should the suggestion be given the green light, it would mean Liverpool handing over 500 tickets to Crystal Palace fans on the final-day fixture at Anfield on May 23, with the remaining 9,500 allocated to home supporters.
And with the Reds' trip to Burnley having been pushed back several days - while so far unconfirmed, Wednesday, May 19 seems a likely date - the proposal would see around 270 tickets being made available for travelling fans at Turf Moor.
Stadiums are allowed to be at 25% capacity up to 10,000, meaning a total of 5,500 seats could be occupied at Burnley's 21,944-capacity home.
The change in schedule also means Liverpool's trip to West Bromwich Albion, originally slated for May 11, will now take place on Sunday, May 16 with a 4.30pm kick-off. It will be shown live on Sky Sports.
