Tony Gallacher has claimed his desire to play first team football ultimately led him to leave Liverpool for St. Johnstone, but praised his former club for the role they played in his development.
The 22-year-old sealed a permanent transfer to the Scottish Premiership side on Tuesday.
Gallacher departed Anfield after making 49 appearances for the Reds’ under 23s, including nine so far this season. He turned out once for the senior side.
The Scottish left-back spent four years on Merseyside after joining from from Falkirk in 2018, and praised the club for the ‘incredible education’ he received.

However, Gallacher emphasised that he felt that the time was right to seek first team opportunities elsewhere.
“I’m really excited about my move to St. Johnstone and can’t wait to get started," he told the club's official website .
“I had a great time at Liverpool and I’d like to thank everyone there for looking after me and helping me to improve as a footballer and teach me so many good habits.
“I feel very lucky to have been part of a massive football club with so many wonderful professionals and people.
“It was an incredible education.
“But I felt the time was right to look for first-team football and an exciting opportunity presented itself at St. Johnstone.”
It’s sure to be a baptism of fire for Gallacher as his new club are currently rooted to the bottom of the Scottish Premiership, winning just three of their 20 games so far this season.
