Liverpool firm Ideal Modular Homes launches £82k house it says can be built in just four days

A Liverpool firm has today launched a modular home costing as little as £82k that it says can be built in just four days.

Ideal Modular Homes says its new concept looks to "shake up" the market with an affordable range aimed at "helping to solve the UK's housing crisis".

The Merseyside -based manufacturer says its new OURhome product will mean making itself a "key player" in the UK's ambition to become the world leader in modular building within the next decade.

According to Ideal Modular Homes, the prices start at £82k, and the "well designed, high quality, sustainable and affordable" units can be made in four days.

They will be spacious and light with large windows and "generous" room sizes - with the firm able to work with local authorities and developers to make them bespoke.

Luke Barnes, founder and CEO of Ideal Modular Homes, said: “The UK housing market is under pressure to deliver on its most ambitious proposals for housing yet.

“Affordable homes remain top of the Government’s agenda for discussion and with OURhome, we want to help meet quotas with quality housing that adds value to its local environment and is built to last."

Mr Barnes said Ideal Modular Homes has developed a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility to "push the boundaries of volumetric construction and enable the application of innovative architecture."

As a result, the property will keep costs down, with the firm saying that will mean cutting annual expenditure on energy bills by more than 50 per cent.

The move is a collaboration with architects Shedkm, which he said will move modular housing into a "new era" - providing homes that appeal to the widest audience possible by offering extensive choice, with designs made out of materials from timber to metal sheet.

It's hoped that will mean the product range is flexible enough to fit into existing communities, or create new ones.

Mr Barnes added: “Shedkm’s vast experience in the residential sector has enabled us to combine intelligent, exciting architecture with futuristic manufacturing, to deliver on our founding principle of beautiful high-quality sustainable homes for all.”
