A Liverpool film studio could generate more than £1m in lettings for the next financial year.
The Depot, which provides two 20,000 square feet studio spaces off Edge Lane, could bring a seven figure sum for the region in rent as Liverpool Film Office (LFO) meets demand for film and TV production.
The status of The Depot, which opened in 2021, is among three of the city’s major developments that members of Liverpool Council’s strategic development and housing committee will receive an update on during its meeting next week.

According to a report to members from cabinet member, Cllr Sarah Doyle and Mark Bousfield, strategic director for city development, “significant industry interest” has materialised into four productions renting out the space opposite the Littlewoods Building off Edge Lane.
LFO are “proactively engaging” on rental levels alongside property management to ensure “best value is achieved.”
All lettings at The Depot must be signed off by the commissioners appointed to oversee the city.
The report details how the first phase of work is underway to redevelop the nearby Littlewoods building into a 260,000 square feet TV and film studio, media and creative complex.
The first phase, covering survey, investigation, remediation and design works, will be funded by a £7.1m grant from Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.
Contractors Capital & Centric are expected to begin major works later this year, while working with Liverpool in Work and Children and Young People’s Services regarding social value and inclusive design opportunities.
A further report on progress will go before the council’s cabinet in September updating on progress.
Elsewhere, consultants could be brought in to formulate “high quality” development, public realm and transport options for a 56 acre site that could create 7,000 jobs as it bolster’s the city’s digital, tech and creative output.
Cllr Doyle and Mr Bousfield’s update details how Liverpool Council, Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) and Sciontec Liverpool wish to engage external support to identify potential developments at Upper Central - which runs from Central Station to Liverpool Science Park and Lime Street to Bold Street.
An invitation to tender notice has been prepared which will procure the services required to complete the work.
The report describes the progress on the three schemes as “positive” with councillors expected to note the work done to date.
