Liverpool FC Virgil van Dijk's Scouse declaration as he wows fans with McDonald's gesture

Liverpool FC's Virgil van Dijk wowed fans last month when he was spotted working at McDonald's.

People were starstruck as the Dutch centre back swapped Anfield for the Kirkby branch of the fast food chain. McDonald's has released a video on social media as the Reds' number four handed out McFlurrys to amazed customers.

In the video, Van Dijk said: "Feeling very generous today. I'm going to give everyone a free Wispa McFlurry. Obviously it's brand new, it's limited. So let's get it."

The Dutch international was taken aback as he headed into the kitchen at the Golden Arches to retrieve a tray of the limited edition treat. He said: "I've never been in the back here."

Van Dijk then handed out free McFlurry's at the drive thru to gobsmacked people. One excited customer said: "Oh my God. Virgil."

Another thrilled person contacted a friend on FaceTime and was in hysterics as Van Dijk adopted some Scouse slang. He said: "Yes, lad".

The post from McDonald's explained how there are two things guaranteed to make someone's day. It added: "It’s a visit from @virgilvandijk and a FREE Wispa McFlurry. We showed up to Kirkby with the local hero to spread a little bit of magic."

Earlier this year, the defender also took part in McDonald’s Fun Football and Happy Readers events in which they encouraged children to read and take part in an exclusive football coaching session at Liverpool One.
