Liverpool FC's blow is Man City's gain ahead of 2019/20 Premier League season

Manchester City have been handed a potential Premier League title boost after Liverpool's fixture congestion was revealed.

The Reds qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup when they won the Champions League final thanks to a 2-0 win over Tottenham last month.

FIFA announced Qatar as the hosts in early June but Liverpool had been waiting until today to find out their fixture pile-up because of the tournament in December.

Liverpool enter the competition at the semi-final stage and that match is due to take place on Wednesday, December 18, while the final is pencilled in for Saturday December 21.

This now means that at least one of the Reds' games will need to be rearranged. Liverpool were due to be facing West Ham United on December 21.

Should Jurgen Klopp's men reach the quarter-final stage of the Carabao Cup a new date would also need to be found for a tie which is scheduled for either December 17 or December 18.

Ahead of the busiest time of the year around Christmas, it's just another hurdle Liverpool face as they bid to stop Man City from winning the Premier League trophy for the third consecutive season.
