Liverpool FC receive injury boost ahead of Manchester United Premier League clash

Liverpool have confirmed that defender Joel Matip has returned to full first-team training ahead of this weekend's Premier League clash against Manchester United.

The defender missed games against RB Salzburg and Leicester after picking up a knock.

Joe Gomez looked shaky on his return to the starting XI in the Champions League and while Dejan Lovren performed well against the Foxes, the Croatian is known to be error prone in big games.

Matip has been one of Liverpool's top performers in 2019, cementing his place as Virgil van Dijk's partner in the heart of defence after a string of impressive performances when it seemed his time at the club was limited.

The 28-year-old returned to training on Tuesday morning alongside his teammates in preparation for the weekend's clash at Old Trafford.

Mohamed Salah trained after picking up a knock against Leicester while Alisson Becker took part in the session as he closes in on a return to action.

United also received a boost with Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw pictured arriving for training this morning and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hope to have the pair available for the visit of the Merseysiders.

Paul Pogba will also be assessed with Solskjaer expected to provide an update on his availability during his press conference on Friday.
