Liverpool FC players 'freaked out' over problem during Calvin Harris DJ set

Calvin Harris has shared the inside story of what happened on the Liverpool FC bus parade.

The superstar DJ, best known by Liverpool FC fans for his hit 'One kiss' with Dua Lipa, was a surprise addition on the bus parade around the city. The parade on May 29 toured Liverpool to celebrate LFC's season which ended with two trophies.

Speaking on Ronan Kemp's Capital Breakfast Show, Calvin, whose real name is Adam Richard Wiles, called the parade "the biggest gig of my life". The Scottish DJ also explained how he was recruited to perform on the open topped bus - and how a technical issue almost stopped the whole show.

Calvin told Capital Breakfast he was recruited for the show after a conversation with friend Andy Robertson. Calvin said: "It was the most unreal experience I think in my entire life.

"Obviously I'm a Liverpool fan but it didn't become a football anthem, it became a Liverpool anthem. And so that happening was bizarre in itself.

"I go chatting to Andy Robertson and he said 'if there's anything that you could do, you know we're doing this float sort of thing, maybe you could DJ at Anfield, maybe you could DJ on the bus.' I'm like mate get me on that bus."

But Calvin said he got two hours into the four hour DJ set when his sound engineer told him they only had 10% of their power battery left. Calvin said Robertson and Roberto Firmino were "freaking out" telling him they had to make it to the docks because that's "where it all goes mental".

Calvin added: "There's a truck behind us setting off fireworks so they managed to run a power line. With seconds to spare just before we turn the corner into like the main street where everyone's going mental [the sound engineer] runs up, he's like 'we've got power.'

"I'm like 'crank it to 11', bearing in mind this is only supposed to be for the boys on the bus. The sound isn't meant to go out there. I cranked it, you could hear it for miles."

Calvin said he put on 'Freed from Desire' and the flares on the bus behind were set off. He added: "[It was] the biggest gig of my life."
