Liverpool FC pair Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah send warnings to Man City

Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah have warned Manchester City Liverpool will be back for more next season after narrowly missing out on the Premier League title.

Jurgen Klopp's men ended their seven-year wait for a trophy with a 2-0 victory over Spurs in the Champions League final on Saturday night.

Liverpool's No.1 priority next season will surely be ending their 30-year wait for a league title and Van Dijk has the Premier League firmly in his sights.

“Everyone is working towards their goals and obviously we want to challenge for every trophy if possible," the Dutchman said. "We have the squad for it.

“Hopefully we can challenge Man City again next season for the title because I don’t think they will go anywhere, but we will go nowhere either.

“To be two years in a row in the Champions League final is something we hope to be every year, but we know how difficult it is to reach it.

“But we are all ambitious. We all want to have these nights a couple of times a year.

“So, let’s just go for it, work hard, stay humble. That’s the only way forward.”

Salah, the scorer of Liverpool's first goal in Madrid, echoed Van Dijk's sentiments, saying: “We will go next season for the Premier League. This is the first season we were fighting for the Premier League.

“Last year we were fighting for the Champions League, before that the Europa League, so it’s a progression. This is the first time we have fought for the Premier League and we only lost it by one point.

“Manchester City won it and it was well deserved, but we will be able to challenge now."
