Liverpool FC midfielder Fabinho gives injury update ahead of Manchester United clash

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has offered an injury update ahead of this weekend's Premier League clash against Manchester United .

The Brazilian has been sidelined for a number of weeks after suffering damaged ankle ligaments during Liverpool 's draw against Napoli in the Champions League at the end of November.

Despite his importance to the side, Liverpool's defensive record has improved with Fabinho on the sidelines - Jurgen Klopp 's side haven't conceded in six successive fixtures in all competitions.

Klopp said the midfielder would be returning to team training next week and Fabinho offered more insight into his rehabilitation during a appearance on French television ahead of the United fixture.

He told French outlet  Telefoot: "My ankle is better, I trained alone this week.

"I am touching the ball again, I feel good and I feel confident."

United have a FA Cup third round replay against Wolves to contend with before the weekend's clash against their rivals.

Marcus Rashford was substituted during the win against Norwich and the forward revealed it was precautionary with the next two fixtures in mind.

"Fancied a hat-trick today but busy few weeks for us," the forward wrote on Twitter. "Just a precaution and looking forward to getting back at it Wednesday."
