Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp responds to title question amid Manchester United challenge

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp downplayed the suggestion that any team is already involved in a Premier League title race.

The German saw his side held to a goalless draw by Newcastle on Wednesday night, just 24 hours after Manchester United struck late to defeat Wolves.

The win for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side saw them climb up to second in the Premier League and they are now only three points behind Liverpool with a game in hand.

Klopp's side are firm favourites to lift the title again but he is refusing to indulge in any title talk when the season isn't even at the halfway stage.

"The last thing that I think about is our position in the table," Klopp told Amazon Prime. "It's nice but it doesn't matter at this stage of the season.

"You've seen that we've drawn the last two games and we are still top of the table, it just shows how much of a difficult season it is for everybody.

"Other teams won last night and are now in a good mood, we are in a good mood, when life gives you lemons make lemonade from it.

"We try all the time, when I think of football, these are the moments we all enjoy but in the rest of life at the moment, it isn't obviously that easy.

"For all the people in the world it's really difficult but we've all fought through it. Winter came and the next wave came and stuff like this.

"So that's in my mind but we will keep going. Next game Southampton, Aston Villa, United. All these kind of things, that's good.

"We want to be ready for the games and didn't get the result we wanted but that's not the worst thing in life."
