Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp reacts to Jose Mourinho return following Manchester United sacking

Jurgen Klopp has welcomed Jose Mourinho back to the Premier League following his appointment as manager of Tottenham Hotspur.

The Portuguese was appointed as the manager at Spurs on Wednesday following the dismissal of Mauricio Pochettino, and takes charge of his first game this weekend.

Mourinho's arrival in North London signals his first return to management since he was sacked by Manchester United in December of last year.

Tottenham will host Liverpool in the Premier League next January and Klopp says it is 'nice' to have Mourinho back, although he admits he will miss Pochettino a lot.

"Welcome back Jose, haha!" Klopp joked at a pre-match press conference.

"It's nice to have him back. He was desperate, you can see that from the time when he was not in.

"On the other side it is of course Mauricio not there anymore and it shows of course how quick things change nowadays.

"Five months ago we played each other in the Champions League Final, now he is on holiday. I hope he can enjoy it to be honest.

"He did a brilliant job at Tottenham, nobody doubts that, he is an outstanding coach, a great guy and I really enjoyed the challenges we had against each other.

"Everyone knows all the jobs available Mauricio will be in contention for.

"Jose his heart is motivated, so that will be interesting as well!"
