Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp names six Manchester United players with 'real quality'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has named six Manchester United players with 'real quality' who could hurt his side on Monday night.

The Merseyside club travel to Old Trafford next week hoping to overturn what has been a poor start to their season. Draws against Fulham and Crystal Palace in their opening fixtures have been less than ideal with Darwin Nunez now also suspended following a headbutt in the latter game.

United meanwhile have also been licking their wounds following their trouncing at Brentford last weekend. Erik ten Hag has now lost his first two competitive matches in charge of the Reds and is in need of a victory.

Ten Hag's hopes could have been lifted ahead of Monday's clash following Klopp's pre-match press conference. When asked about the United squad, the Liverpool boss gave this review: "Football quality in midfield, whoever lines up: [Christian] Eriksen, [Bruno] Fernandes, Donny van de Beek, Fred, who Gabby [Agbonlahor] doesn’t like but I think is a really good player, and [Scott] McTominay, there’s real quality there."

Klopp's Agbonlahor comments about Fred were referencing an earlier answer he gave where he criticised the former Aston Villa man's thoughts on United during their defeat to the Bees. He added: "It’s about how we deal with that.

"Two games they’ve played in the league, I saw them both and if we have to try to figure out if he will change, what he will change, and if we have no idea then we have to try to learn it in the game." Klopp would go on to brand United's forward quality as 'ridiculous' before singling out another player for praise.

"I’ve heard [Anthony] Martial can play probably, he’s trained again and can play," the Liverpool gaffer added. "He played against us [in pre-season], another boy with technique and speed."
