Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp makes surprising Man City admission

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted his side are unable to match the style of football that Manchester City show in the Premier League.

The Reds retook the lead in the title race on Friday evening by fighting back from behind to beat Southampton 3-1, although Pep Guardiola’s defending champions have a game in hand over their rivals.

While Liverpool maintained their winning streak with the victory, Klopp ’s side have now failed to keep a clean sheet in their last four matches - even against recently-relegated Fulham and a Burnley side also fighting to retain their top-flight status.

With City ’s slick style of football continuing to attract many plaudits, Klopp was asked about his side’s performance after the win against Southampton and made a clear admission in the process.

Man City manager Pep Guardiola asked about Juan Mata amid Manchester United transfer speculation

“People want us to play like City but we’re unable to do that, why should we do it? We have our way to play football and it’s a nice way, a really good way,” he told Sky Sports.

“We have 82 points or so, that’s massive in this crazy league, with very strong opponents.”

City are not in Premier League action this weekend due to their FA Cup semi-final against Brighton at Wembley but play before Liverpool in each of the next two match days in the Premier League, before tackling Manchester United on April 24 in their game in hand.
