Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp describes Man City's Premier League campaign as "madness"

Man City and Liverpool might be great Premier League rivals, slugging it out at the top of the Premier League, but that hasn't stopped Jurgen Klopp from heaping respect and praise upon his title rivals.

City and Liverpool have both enjoyed incredible seasons and sit at the top of the table with 92 and 91 points respectively -  an unprecedented points tally for two teams in the same season. The record points total for a second place finish is 89.

As a result of their excellence the fixture between the two sides has become somewhat of a heated rivalry but that hasn't prevented Klopp from lauding City's 'incredible campaign.'

"If City win all their games, then I can only congratulate them," the German told Goal and DAZN.

Man City transfer plans for the summer assessed

The Man City stat that shows their defence is holding off Liverpool FC in Premier League title race

"It is quite simple. They will have had an amazing season, an incredible campaign.

"They had an unbelievable 2017-18 season and almost matched their points tally from that year. That’s absolute madness.

"You can only admire such consistency. I can’t say anything bad about that.

"We don’t want to win the league because City lose, but because we win. So if City win the league, they will have deserved it."

However, the season isn't over yet. City do have the advantage and if they win both of their two remaining games then they will be crowned champions. But anything less than perfection could allow Liverpool to slip in at the 11th hour.

Man City turning Manchester United into the new Liverpool FC could be their greatest achievement

Man City fans split on Danilo summer transfer decision for Pep Guardiola

Klopp believes the title could still be decided on the last day.

"I would just like to win our own games and then we will see what happens, it could all be decided on the final matchday.

"Manchester City have Brighton away and we take on Wolves at home. Those are no easy games. Brighton could still be battling against relegation and Wolves have proven to be a very good team and a very unpleasant opponent. That could be tight as well.

"I believe that you will get what you deserve in the end. If you don’t get it in the short term, you will get it in the long term. It’s as simple as that."
