Liverpool FC legend reveals classy message from Manchester United great Sir Alex Ferguson

Sir Alex Ferguson really is a class act - and Robbie Fowler has highlighted why again.

The Liverpool legend, who now sits in the dugout at Australian side Brisbane Roar, has revealed that his players have received personal messages from the former Manchester United boss wishing them good luck for the upcoming season.

The two were rivals for much of their careers and grew into club legends across the M62 but Fowler says Ferguson was always fond of him as a player.

And he's not the only manager to have sent Roar players his well wishes, with Jurgen Klopp following suit.

“It was incredible that these great men wanted to do that,” Fowler told the Daily Mail.

“I think he always liked me as a player. This message he sent is my greatest memory of him.

“When you deal with people like him, it's not always through football that you realise how good they are. He didn't have to do it but he did it without hesitation."

He added: “We know how passionate and how good he was as a manager. But let me tell you this: he is a gentleman, first and foremost.”
