Liverpool FC great Steven Gerrard reveals Man City's transfer stance on Phil Foden

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard does not believe Manchester City would be willing to let Phil Foden leave the club on loan.

Foden is regarded as one of English football's brightest prospects, with the 19-year-old midfielder held in high regard by City boss Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola recently hailed Foden as the most talented player he has ever managed.

Rangers have been linked with a loan move for Foden, who has made just one substitute appearance for City in the Premier League this season.

However, Gerrard has dismissed those reports as he believes the teenager is set to stay put.

“I don’t think Pep Guardiola is going to let him go anywhere,” said the Rangers boss.

When asked whether Rangers were in for Foden, he replied “No.”

The Scottish transfer window closes on Monday evening but Gerrard is not expecting any 11th-hour arrivals.

“There could be a few outs,” added Gerrard. “We are trying really hard to help and support the players who want to go out on loan and play football. So there could be one or two outgoings.

“In terms of incomings I’d be very surprised but while the window is open who knows.”
