Liverpool FC great Jamie Carragher sends Man City transfer warning over Jude Bellingham

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has claimed that Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour will be "anxious" watching Jude Bellingham at the World Cup, as the Borussia Dortmund star could be at the centre of a bidding war after the tournament's conclusion.

Bellingham has been in superb form for England during their World Cup campaign in Qatar, as the 19-year-old continues his meteoric rise on the global stage. The Dortmund star was already one of the most sought after footballers prior to the international tournament, as he now firmly cements himself at the top of the wish list for many of Europe's elite clubs.

City have been heavily linked with a move for the teenager, with Pep Guardiola seemingly wanting to add yet another superstar to his side. The Blues have first-hand experience of just how talented Bellingham is, after the Black and Yellows ace scored against them during a Champions League group stage match back in October.

Bellingham is no stranger to finding the net, as he opened the scoring for England's campaign in Qatar during their 6-2 win over Iran. The talented youngster has grown from strength to strength with each game, yet it seems not everyone will be pleased to see the former Birmingham City midfielder doing so well.

Carragher has now claimed that City owner Sheikh Mansour will be nervous about Bellingham's performances, as the club brace themselves for what could be a jaw-dropping transfer fee to tempt him to the Etihad either in January or over the summer.

He told The Telegraph : "There will be only three people in the world watching Bellingham in Qatar and feeling anxious – Florentino Pérez, Sheikh Mansour and JW Henry. The owners of Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool know they will be involved in an auction to get him.

"We are watching the career of a freakishly good talent unfolding. It is frightening how good Bellingham is. If you were to build the prototype modern midfielder, he would be it. He has the physique and athleticism of a 27-year-old Gerrard, and has all the attributes you want in a footballer – tackling, passing, assisting and scoring."
