Liverpool FC great Jamie Carragher makes Bruno Fernandes Manchester United prediction

Jamie Carragher has explained why the timing of Manchester United's signing of Bruno Fernandes is perfect for the player's long-term impact at he club.

The Liverpool great says that, while United fans won't be thoroughly happy with the club's overall transfer business this month, the deal for Fernandes could be huge in the long haul.

“No I don’t think so," Carragher told Sky Sports when asked if he thought United fans would be happy with ending the transfer window with Fernandes as their sole signing. "January is not easy, though.

"Managers talk about that and United fans will understand that it has not been too easy for them to bring players in.

"I think they would like four or five players, but they might have to wait until the summer.

"This guy (Fernandes) has come in for a big fee and we’ll see how it will be. It’s almost a bonus when you get someone in January as it gives them time to acclimatise to the Premier league between now and the end of the season.

"He is obviously one for the next four or five years."
