Liverpool FC great Graeme Souness responds to Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba

Liverpool great Graeme Souness insists he is 'happy' with Paul Pogba's admission that he doesn't know who he is.

The Manchester United midfielder has been regularly criticised by the Anfield favourite throughout his time in England but finally responded to the criticism this week.

Souness has criticised Pogba for his lifestyle, transfer fee and even his hairstyles since returning from Juventus in the summer of 2016, but speaking on the UTD podcast the World Cup winner claimed he'd never heard of the former Liverpool midfielder.

"I didn’t even know who [Souness] was," Pogba said.

"I heard he was a great player and stuff like that. I don't know the face but the name [I do].

"Like I said I’m not someone that watches a lot of [punditry], I watch a lot of football but I don’t stay after the game to listen to what they say about ‘Why they did this’ or ‘why they did that’.

"I like to focus on football."

Speaking about the comments on Tuesday morning Jamie Carragher claimed they were 'below the belt' before he asked Souness for his reaction. The former Liverpool midfielder then made a jibe about which player had won more trophies and medals.

"I am happy with that," was Souness' reply to Carragher on Sky Sports.

"The oldest saying in football comes to mind, put your medals on the table."
