Liverpool FC forward Mohamed Salah injury update amid title race vs Manchester City

Mohamed Salah's injury isn't as bad as first feared, it has emerged.

The Liverpool forward, who is one of Jurgen Klopp's most important players, hobbled off in the 92nd minute during his side's 2-1 win over Leicester after a rash challenge from Hamza Choudhury.

Despite his side picking up all three points, Klopp was furious with the Foxes midfielder - who only picked up a yellow card - and let his feelings be known.

"It’s a challenge which I really don’t understand ... it’s dangerous as hell," said the German. "He is a player who is at full sprint, to bring him down without the ball around, for me it (card) is only one colour.

"I don’t want to cause the boy any problems but he has to calm down in situations like that. It’s not the first time. He has to calm down.

"He’s a super player, super development in the last one or two years at Leicester, but these kind of challenges, no. I don’t know how that can not be red."

Leicester and former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers played down the incident, however.

"Mo Salah is coming inside at speed and there’s a clash of course," said the Northern Irishman. "With the emotion of the game at that time, it might seem worse than it was.

"He [Choudhury] was just trying to get back into position. Mo cut across him and there’s a collision. He’s an honest boy.

"He makes challenges, he’s aggressive but I don’t think there was anything malicious in it at all."

Salah's condition at full-time would have concerned Liverpool fans, with the Egyptian possessing the ability to make a significant difference in a title race vs Manchester City.

But according to Daily Mirror's David Maddock it's positive news for Liverpool fans.

He tweeted: "Good news for #LFC - Salah took a bad knock at the end of game, but initial checks have shown injury not serious - not as bad as first appeared."
