Liverpool FC fans make Kevin De Bruyne Man City transfer claim

Liverpool fans have bewilderingly suggested Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne could make a sensational move to Anfield after the Belgian spoke about his future.

CIty are facing a two-year ban from participation in the Champions League starting next season, though that decision is pending an appeal by the club at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Last week De Bruyne touched on how the ban could affect his future plans if it is upheld.

"I'm just waiting. The club has told us that they are going to appeal and that they is almost one hundred percent sure that they are right. That's why I'm waiting to see what will happen. I trust my team," De Bruyne said.

"Once the statement is made, I will review everything. Two years would be long, in the case of one year I might see."

De Bruyne was a Liverpool fan as a child but the chances of City allowing him to leave for Anfield, given the two clubs' fiery rivalry, are all but non-existent.

That didn't stop a few Liverpool fans on social media from getting giddy, though.

De Bruyne also confirmed that his future at City will not depend on whether manager Pep Guardiola stays at the club past his current deal that runs until 2021.

He added: "I think Pep said he will take his year anyway no matter what. Then his contract ends.

"But I'm not going to let my decision depend on what Pep is doing. Of course I have already worked with other trainers and when Pep leaves, I have to continue working with someone else. But I haven't really paid much attention to that for the time being.

"There are more important things at the moment."
