Liverpool FC fans goad Man City team bus leaving Stamford Bridge after Chelsea defeat

Liverpool FC fans have been congregating to celebrate their title win on Thursday night - including at Stamford Bridge to greet the Manchester City team bus as it left the stadium.

City's 2-1 defeat at Chelsea confirmed Liverpool as Premier League champions, after the leaders had beaten Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

Knowing only a win would postpone Liverpool's coronation, City fell behind to a Christian Pulisic goal, before Kevin de Bruyne threatened to spoil the party with a brilliant free kick.

But as City pushed for a winner, Chelsea broke and won a penalty as Fernandinho handled on the line. He was sent off, and Willian scored to seal the win for the home side and confirm Liverpool as champions.

Despite warnings not to gather, Liverpool fans have been celebrating together outside Anfield and throughout their city to mark their first title in 30 years.

And for some Liverpool fans based in London, they travelled to Stamford Bridge.

As the City coach left the stadium, a small number of Liverpool fans were pictured holding banners and flags up to the bus - including a cardboard Premier League trophy, report football.london.

City next face Newcastle on Sunday in the FA Cup before welcoming the new champions to the Etihad Stadium on Thursday.

The game was confirmed to be taking place at City's home ground after it was finally confirmed that a neutral venue was not needed.
