Liverpool FC defender Virgil van Dijk gives Mohamed Salah injury update ahead Manchester United clash

Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk is confident that forward Mohamed Salah will recover and be fit in time for the trip to Manchester United after the international break.

Liverpool have won all eight of their games so far in the Premier League this season and sit eight points clear of title rivals Man City at the top of the table.

They left it late to maintain their streak against Leicester City, with a James Milner penalty in stoppage time securing the three points.

However, the victory came at a cost as moments prior to the winning strike Salah hobbled off the pitch after being scythed down by Hamza Choudhury.

Jurgen Klopp wasn't happy with the challenge after the match but Van Dijk believes that their crucial attacker will be ready to travel to Old Trafford.

"I think he should be not too bad," the Dutchman told Sky Sports.

"The good thing he has plenty of time to recover. He’ll probably get a time to recover as well.

"So I’m not concerned that he’s not going to be ready for United away."

A match against league leaders and bitter rivals Liverpool is perhaps the last thing United wanted to face after the international break due to their pitiful run of form.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side slipped to a 1-0 defeat to struggling Newcastle on Sunday which topped off a month which has also seen a laboured victory over Astana, a narrow penalty win over League One side Rochdale, dull draws to Arsenal and AZ Alkmaar plus a defeat to West Ham.

Things won't be getting much easier, either, because the visit of Liverpool will then be followed by a gruelling trip to Belgrade to face Partizan followed by three more away days on the spin to Norwich, Chelsea and Bournemouth.
