Liverpool FC defender sends Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay message

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has praised Scott McTominay for his performances for Manchester United so far this season.

With United sitting in 12th in the league and having won only twice this term there haven't been many standout performers in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

But McTominay is one of a handful of positives after upping his game and has been praised for his impact by fellow Scotland international Robertson who he could face this weekend.

"There was a wee bit of banter with Scott McTominay during the Scotland duty, just a wee bit, not much, honest!" Robertson said.

"I thought Scotty was fantastic for us against San Marino, to be honest. And he’s been excellent all season in a United team that has had its critics. I think he’s carried himself very well. I’ll be looking forward to facing him on Sunday. Obviously, I hope to come out on top."

McTominay has a very good chance of starting against Jurgen Klopp's league leaders on Sunday, especially after Solskjaer confirmed Paul Pogba had been ruled out of the game as he continues to recover from injury.

"Paul had an injury, he came back, he worked really hard," he told Sky Sports .

"He came back and played a couple of games, maybe played through the pain barrier. He had a scan after the Arsenal game and maybe needed a few weeks' rest in a boot so hopefully he won't be too long, but he won't make this game, no."
