Liverpool FC coach Jurgen Klopp warns Man City about next season

Liverpool will not be letting go of Manchester City's coat-tails any time soon, according to Jurgen Klopp.

The Merseyside club produced an extraordinary Premier League campaign last season, suffering just one defeat and clocking up 97 points to set the third highest points tally in the history of the competition.

But it was still not enough to dethrone Pep Guardiola's Centurions , who won their final 14 games of the league season to clinch their and extend Anfield's wait for a league title to at least a thirtieth year.

Klopp's team did, however, go on to win a sixth European Cup with their Champions League final victory over Tottenham and are to stop the Blues making it three titles in a row.

Having come so close to more glory last season, the Liverpool manager sounded bullish about their future prospects.

"The most important thing for Liverpool fans, when reliving the memories of this season, is to remember it’s the start - not a conclusion," he said .

“Madrid wasn’t the final chapter for us - I think we’re still writing the introduction.

“When we were travelling around Liverpool with the European Cup on that magical Sunday, the words that I heard sung the loudest were: ‘We’re never gonna stop!’

“That’s what this team and club has to live by. We arrived at this point because we were hungry for moments like June 1.”
