Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp sympathises with Manchester United fixture situation

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he sympathises with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over the prospect of having to play three Premier League games in the space of just five days.

The postponement of last week's visit of his Liverpool side has resulted in Manchester United having to cope with the increased fixture load before the end of the domestic season.

United's unenviable run begins with Sunday's 2.05pm kick-off at Aston Villa, then hosting Leicester at 6pm on Tuesday before an 8.15pm kick-off with Liverpool two days later on the Thursday.

Solskjaer is furious with the Premier League's scheduling of the triple header and has already warned he could field a completely different side in one of the fixtures.

When asked about the fixture chaos Klopp offered his sympathy to the Norwegian but admitted there was nothing anyone could do about the unfortunate situation.

"We were informed about the process, but nothing to do with it really," Klopp said at a press conference on Friday. "Yes, I feel sympathy for him [Solskjaer], it’s not how it should be.

"But it’s not good for us as well, to be honest. I would’ve preferred to play the game last week. Now we have five games in the last two weeks so that’s not really cool as well.

"But that’s how it is. Nothing to complain about or whatever, it’s just the situation."
