Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp rates Manchester City's Champions League chances

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes that Premier League rivals Manchester City are one of the favourites to win this season's Champions League.

The German guided the Reds to their sixth European Cup earlier this year by defeating Tottenham in the final - the side that knocked City out of the competition at the quarter final stage.

Klopp's side pushed City to the final day of the season in the Premier League but were unable to emerge victorious as Pep Guardiola sealed his second successive title in England.

City also became the first team to complete the domestic treble in England but European glory continues to elude them, something which Guardiola and the City hierarchy are desperate to change.

Klopp feels they have a great chance of doing so this season, suggesting that Liverpool aren't favourites to retain the famous trophy.

"We are not the top favourite in the Champions League," he said in an interview with Kicker.

"Manchester City are once again a favourite, they are very good.

"In the Premier League, City are above everyone, they have a top combination with their coach and their squad."

City will find out their group stage opponents for the competition on August 29 and could face ties against the likes of Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Napoli.
