Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp provides Mo Salah injury update as Man City title race enters final week

Liverpool will be without Mohamed Salah for their Champions League semi-final second leg against Barcelona, but the Egyptian will return for the final day showdown with Wolves.

Salah was carried off with a head injury against Newcastle and tests have revealed he suffered a concussion, which means an enforced absence at Anfield on Tuesday.

Klopp revealed the forward was desperate to play but concussion protocols will prevent that. Salah will be fit to face Wolves on Sunday on the final day of the Premier League season, when Liverpool and Manchester City will be going head-to-head for the title.

Liverpool will again be without Roberto Firmino against Barcelona as well as he struggles with an injury that also kept him out of the Premier League win over Newcastle on Saturday.

"Both are not available," Klopp said of the fitness of Salah and Firmino, leaving Liverpool with only one member of their vaunted front three to face Barcelona.

Asked about Salah's head injury, Klopp added: "Concussion. That means he won't be allowed to play. He feels okay but it's not good enough from a medical point of view. He's desperate to play but we cannot do it."
