Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp admits Manchester United involvement in title race excites him

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admitted he has been left excited by Manchester United's involvement in the title race this season as he believes one-horse races are boring.

United head to Anfield three points ahead of the champions and will end Sunday four points clear at the top, ahead of Leicester and possibly Manchester City, with a win.

Klopp is glad that there is competition in the Premier League this season and admitted he was concerned a couple of seasons ago that Pep Guardiola's side would dominate on their own.

“It must be exciting and interesting, it would be boring if one team was so dominant. Like in the ‘90s, and early 2000s with United and earlier with Liverpool obviously," Klopp said.

"I was a little bit afraid that Man City would be something like that (dominating) and obviously could still be. But it’s important that somebody has stepped in and showed that there are different ways to play and you can be successful.

"It gave all of us a chance to try again and that’s of course what’s happening this year. So many teams can be champions - United are three points ahead, can be six points.

"Don’t forget, City have a game in hand and can be one point behind United and all this kind of stuff. Chelsea are not a finished article, and Tottenham are doing well.”
