Liverpool have confirmed that they will be unable to allow supporters to see the Premier League trophy in the foreseeable future due to coronavirus fears.
The club have staged a number of test events since winning the title - including inviting staff and local media to Anfield for photographs - in order to gauge the feasibility of opening up the visits to the wider public.
They have also taken the trophy on a tour of NHS hospitals across Merseyside and made plans for further community engagement involving the silverware.
However, it has been decided that it is not currently safe to welcome fans to the club's home ground for similar photo opportunities.
As such, the trophy will be only be accessible for those who have booked to visit the museum at Anfield.
Tom Cassidy, Liverpool's senior manager of tourism, said: “As ever, the interest from supporters in seeing our latest piece of silverware has been incredible and in normal circumstances we would host a viewing event like we did for the Champions League trophy last year.
“Unfortunately, that is not possible in the current circumstances so we have committed to hosting an event in the future which prioritises the health of our supporters whilst also maximising the number of fans who will be able to participate.
“While a date cannot be established at this stage, our commitment is clear and we look forward to a time when it will be safe and possible.”
