Liverpool fans troll Man Utd by flying ‘six times European champions’ banner over training camp in Australia

Manchester United have travelled about as far away as possible to escape Liverpool's Champions League triumph - but even Australia isn't far away enough, it seems.

United are currently based in Perth for two of their 2019-20 pre-season friendlies, with upcoming games against Perth Glory and Leeds United in the capital of Western Australia.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side held an open training session in front of 12,000 paying fans at The WACA, but there was an aerial reminder of Liverpool's European success last term.

As the players trained, a light aircraft flew over The WACA trailing a banner which read: "LIVERPOOL FC - 6 X EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS".

Not a sight any Aussie United fans will have been waiting for, really.

It is not the first time United's fall from grace has been highlighted in the clouds, with Ed Woodward bearing the brunt of United fans' ire last year.

A group of irate Red Devils fans believed Woodward had undermined then-manager Jose Mourinho by failing to back him in the transfer market, and duly hired a plane to fly above Burnley's Turf Moor in September 2018 bearing the message: ‘Ed Woodward - A Specialist in Failure.’

The most recent banner is not quite as cutting, but will hurt United fans all the same.
