Liverpool fans travel to Holland for latest Hillsborough Justice Campaign charity weekend

Liverpool supporters are heading out to Holland for the seventh annual Hillsborough Justice Campaign charity weekend.

The fundraising event is a result of the growing friendship between fans of Liverpool and FC Utrecht, formed following their Europa League meeting back the sides back in 2010.

Held since 2012, the charity weekend alternates between Liverpool and Woerden in Holland, although this year they return to Holland for the second successive year as it is the centenary of the VEP Disability team.

More than £33,000 has been raised by the initiative, with the Hillsborough Justice Campaign, the Dirk Kuyt Foundation, the LFC Foundation, the 23 Foundation and the VEP Disability team all having benefited.

Kuyt, who played for both Utrecht and Liverpool, and other former Reds players such as Jamie Carragher, Howard Gayle, Phil Neal and Ray Clemence have previously assisted the effort, either through publicity, taking part or donating items.

Last year saw a team of Liverpool supporters win the match for only the second time with a 3-1 win over VEP Woerden, a Dutch semi-professional team.

The fundraising effort, organised by Ste Traynor, includes an auction and various raffles throughout the weekend. The game takes place on Saturday.
