Liverpool fans think Jurgen Klopp has learnt his lesson over Curtis Jones

Liverpool fans believe Jurgen Klopp has learnt his lesson regarding Curtis Jones.

The young midfielder was in inspirational form during the Reds' Champions League tie against RB Leipzig, helping them into a 2-0 lead with a fine midfield display that saw him set up Sadio Mane.

It continued an excellent season for Jones, who has been one of the Reds' standout performers so far in this campaign.

Perhaps unsurprisingly due to his performances and his newfound importance to the team, Klopp has been keen to give Jones some rest and protect him from fatigue.

That led to him being taken off against Leicester City and Man City in the Premier League this month, only for the Reds to concede three times after Jones was replaced.

With Liverpool 2-0 up against RB Leipzig, Klopp again opted to shuffle his pack, but kept Jones on and instead took off Thiago Alcantara and Roberto Firmino.

It led to Reds fans celebrating the fact that Jones had been kept on the pitch.

Klopp's usage of Jones is something that has been noted by Reds legend John Aldridge, who argued that the midfielder is deserving of 90 minutes.

He said: "It has been pointed out that in the last two games, we were in a good position until Curtis Jones was replaced midway through the second half.

"That the Reds have then fallen away so badly towards the end against both Manchester City and Leicester is probably just coincidence.

"But Jones was Liverpool’s best player against City and again had a good match at the weekend.

"Maybe Jurgen is trying to protect Jones. But the youngster might be best served getting more 90 minutes under his belt.

"The lad has so much going for him. He loses the ball now and again and will do something he shouldn’t, but he’ll learn from that. He is a real talent."
