Liverpool fans spot undisputed picture of the day after emotional match at Anfield

A hugely emotive snap was taken at Anfield this afternoon as Liverpool fans reacted to Mo Salah's stunning blockbusting strike.

Amid the crowd was Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish, not usually known for his smiles, being intensely embraced by one of the Hillsborough disaster's most prominent and well-known campaigners.

Margaret Aspinall, a mum whose son James, 18, was one of the 96 who was killed 30 years ago in Sheffield, looks on the verge of tears as she wildly hugs the ex-Reds manager.

The match took place on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy.

Here's what happened to the young man kidnapped at gunpoint from a Bootle cafe

Another Liverpool icon, Sami Hyppia, completes the image, snapped by a fan during footage of the match. His tell-tale raised eyebrows make it a picture postcard scene.

Indeed, it was yet another tearjerking afternoon at Anfield today, with incredibly moving colourful mosaics adorning this famous stadium, paying visual tribute to those ordinary Reds supporters lost in Britain's worst sporting disaster.

The Kop displayed a heartrending patchwork showing the number 96 flagged either side by the two eternal flames, while to the right, in the Sir Kenny Dalglish stand, a similar mosaic spelt out "30 years" across the entirety of the lower tier.

To top it all was, of course, the result, a crucial 2-0 win against heavyweights Chelsea which kept Jurgen Klopp's title charge right on track.

To win Liverpool's 19th top-flight league title in this most poignant of years would be a twist that even the most adventurous of scriptwriters would struggle to pen.

As the club's mission statement and mantra is now fond of remembering - this is Liverpool.

This means more.
