Liverpool fans spot "future star" who can save Jurgen Klopp millions

Rhian Brewster made his long-awaited return from injury for Liverpool's Under-23s on Friday.

Brewster, 18, was making his first appearance since January 2018 as Liverpool's youngsters took on Northwestern University.

The teenager played the first 45 minutes for the Reds and scored twice as they ran out 4-0 winners.

Brewster opened the scoring with a stunning effort from outside the area before tucking in a rebound for his second.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was in attendance at the Kirkby Academy, having spent a large chunk of his own injury rehabilitation alongside Brewster.

The England midfielder posted a snap of the pair on Instagram on Friday.

"Had to go see the prodigy on his comeback today! 45 mins, 2 goals, job done. Welcome back bro onwards and upwards from here," he wrote.

Liverpool Under-23s boss Neil Critchley was full of praise for Brewster after his two-goal display.

"He's been out a long time and we've missed him. It was great for him to finally get back playing in a game and to score two goals was brilliant for him," he said.

"His first goal was a fantastic strike and then he was there to put the second one in.

"Hopefully there's no issues - and I'm led to believe there isn't - and he can build on that."

Brewster is being tipped to feature in Jurgen Klopp's first-team plans next season and Liverpool fans believe he could be an alternative to splashing the cash on another striker.

Brewster was called up to the Liverpool first-team by Klopp towards the end of the 2016/17 season but was an unused substitute.

He is yet to make his first-team bow for the Reds but it appears only a matter of time.
