Liverpool fans slammed for 'arrogance' by former Tottenham star ahead of Champions League final

Liverpool fans have been accused of “arrogance” by a former Tottenham Hotspur player as they make their way to Madrid for the Champions League final.

Reds supporters have been in fine voice as they begin to descend upon the Spanish capital for Saturday's showpiece occasion.

Fans have been captured singing at airports and on planes, while the travelling Anfield army have already made their presence felt in Madrid by draping banners around the city and belting out their usual array of songs.

However, such atmosphere has not sat well with former Spurs player Graham Roberts, who scored when the Londoners last won a European trophy, the UEFA Cup, in 1984.

Roberts tweeted: “You have to laugh at the Liverpool supporters at the airport on @SkySportsNews think they won the cup already arrogance at its best, think it be closer than you think, COYS LETS SHOW THEM HOW GOOD WE ARE.”

Roberts has consistently demonstrated on social media that he isn't the biggest fan of Liverpool .

When it emerged the Reds were in talks with Tottenham over playing a pre-season game at their new stadium in the summer – talks now abandoned – he had a simple message.

“Don’t let them play at our stadium,” tweeted Roberts.
