Liverpool fans show caution after Joe Gomez posts injury update

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has posted an update as he continues his recovery from injury.

The Reds centre-back has been absent ever since the international break in November, where he suffered a serious knee injury that ruled him out for the season.

The 23-year-old has gradually been building up his fitness from the injury, although the expectations are that he’ll be out for the remainder of the campaign.

Last month Gomez posted an update of him taking part in solo outdoor training for the first time, where he was filmed running outside for the first time and playing with a football inside the gym.

Now the young defender has posted another update, this time in the gym, where he was putting his injured leg to the test.

In a video on his Instagram story, Gomez is using the leg press machine on his left leg, holding onto it for support as he does.

You can also see that Gomez has some extra support on that leg, as he still works his way back to full fitness from what was a serious injury.

Liverpool fans have seen the video, and have had a mixed reaction. Some see it as a good step forward, while others are worried about him pushing too much too soon.

Here is a selection of what they had to say:

Akki: “Good to see Joe Gomez leg pressing some good weight on his injured leg.”

Jon: “Not looking that confident though, holding on to that leg for dear life.”

Samuel: “Getting better.”

MRJ: “Man watched our shambolic defence against Real and really said ‘I need to show levels’.”

Rob Michael-Phillips: “It's so good to see, but at the same time…”

Inspired Prynce : “Yes Joe!!”
