Liverpool fans send transfer message to Man Utd flop after Gini Wijnaldum throwback

They might have missed out on winning the Premier League, but Liverpool fans have still got the Champions League final to look forward to.

And who can forget about how they got there?

Just over a week has passed since that incredible semi-final victory over Barcelona , which featured Gini Wijnaldum coming off the bench to score twice early in the second half and then Divock Origi striking the late aggregate winner.

It was undoubtedly one of the all-time great Anfield nights, and one that people are still talking about over a week on from the game.

Including one of Wijnaldum's international teammates, it seems.

Liverpool's Champions League final preparations 'disrupted by Dutch club'

Because when the former Manchester United man Memphis Depay shared a throwback image of him and Wijnaldum from their PSV Eindhoven days on Twitter on Thursday, he couldn't help but reference just how proud he was of his old mate.

Depay wrote: "Major throwback with my brother @ GWijnaldum. You’re doing the nation proud Young King!"

And while Wijnaldum and Depay regularly converse on social media, this time around plenty of Liverpool fans thought they'd do their best to convince the now Lyon man to sign for the Reds.

Sold effort.

Would Depay be a good transfer addition at Anfield though?
